Manchester United are embracing a lot of changes ever since Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his company INEOS took over sporting control at the club, and the new hierarchy look to be eager to make more changes in the transfer department with the possible appointment of a specialist in Dougie Freedman.

Is Freedman Open To Moving To Old Trafford?
The Guardian’s Ed Aarons has reported that the Red Devils are now “set to make an official approach” for the possible appointment of the Crystal Palace sporting director to leave the London club and take over as the new head of recruitment at Old Trafford.
The journalist adds that the 49-year-old has been identified as the ideal candidate to work under this new structure put in place by INEOS after being able to sign several impressive talents for the Eagles.
It is added that Freedman is open to the prospect of moving to United, even though he shares a strong relationship with Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish, and that the director’s family is situated in the Manchester Area. However, Aarons states that it’s still not known whether or not the London club will demand a compensation fee to let their executive and former player leave.
What Can Freedman Bring To United?
Freedman is a renowned ex-Scottish footballer who has made over 500 appearances and scored over 150 goals in his career, having played for the likes of Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest and Wolverhampton Wanderers. He spent the majority of his playing career with the Eagles, winning their Player of the Year award in 2002 and helping them to two Premier League promotions.
He has now transitioned into the role of an executive and is known for his ability to spot impressive young talents. He was responsible for bringing the likes of Michael Olise, Eberechi Eze, and Marc Guehi to Crystal Palace, as well as Adam Wharton in the recent winter transfer window.
Freedman has been hailed as “brilliant” for his ability to identify talent and recruit quality players on economic deals, which is probably why the Red Devils want him. However, it remains to be seen if United can convince the London side to let him leave as they also hope to make the appointment of Dan Ashworth as their possible next sporting director.
