After a 1-0 home victory against Crystal Palace, Everton look forward to the next round of the FA Cup, where they play Luton Town in a 4th round fixture on Saturday, January 27, at 3 pm. The previous meeting of these two teams led to a 2-1 away victory for Luton Town, a performance the Toffees will not look to repeat. Last Word on Football brings you our Everton predicted lineup.

Everton Predicted Lineup vs. Luton Town

How Everton Have Lined Up Recently

Everton have had many changes throughout their previous two fixtures, where goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has stayed steady in the league while Joao Virginia has got the nod for cup games. Defenders James Tarkowski, Jarrad Branthwaite and Vitaliy Mykolenko have remained in place for both competitions, with Seamus Coleman and Nathan Patterson rotating at right back.

The midfield duo of James Garner and Amadou Onana have continued their partnership. Abdoulaye Doucoure and Andre Gomes have headed the midfield in an attacking midfielder/second striker position. The latter scored a stunning free-kick to send the Toffees past Crystal Palace in the FA Cup third round.

A front three of Jack Harrison, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Arnaut Danjuma started in the previous premier league game, a 0-0 draw against Aston Villa. Dwight Mcneil replaced Danjuma for the following match against Palace. A clear intent to keep the pace and creativity going forward has led to these four playing consistently.

Everton Recent Form and Tactics

After a shaky end to December, the new year brought a change of form for the Toffees, with two draws and a win changing the tide.

Possession of the ball isn’t a vital part of the game plan, with the team favouring quick and decisive attacks. This has led to the frequent selection of Calvert-Lewin to lead the team up front. His ability to hold up the ball for oncoming wingers while also providing the pace to chase down long balls has created many chances for the team.

Sean Dyche has often deployed a 4-2-3-1 formation, and this fixture should see no change. Selection may change due to the upcoming league game against Fulham on January 30.

Everton’s Injuries to Consider

Dyche has addressed the availability of multiple players heading into the fixture in this week’s press conference. Doucoure, previously described as a “shining light,” and Gomes are both confirmed to be out for the weekend, with the latter picking up a calf injury in training throughout the week. Coleman is out, as is Ashley Young, leaving a lack of options throughout the wingback positions.
