Tottenham Hotspur have undergone a significant transformation since the arrival of new manager Ange Postecoglou last summer, with notable changes in the squad.

One notable departure from the club is the legendary goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, who bid farewell to Spurs in December last year after an illustrious 11 and a half years.

Lloris ventured across the Atlantic to join MLS side Los Angeles FC for the 2024 season, with options for further extensions in the following years.

During his tenure at Tottenham, the Frenchman made an impressive 444 appearances across all competitions, registering 151 clean sheets along the way, as per Transfermarkt.

Former Tottenham player turned pundit Garth Crooks hailed the decision to part ways with Lloris as one of the club’s best moves in recent times, suggesting that it should have been made sooner.

Writing for BBC Sport, Garth Crooks praised Vicario for his performance in Spurs’ recent 4-0 win against Aston Villa, even including him in his team of the week.

Crooks emphasised the importance of replacing Lloris with Vicario and suggested that it has been a move in the right direction for the club.

He said:

“I’ve said on a numerous occasions the best thing they did was to get rid of keeper Hugo Lloris – and it should have happened years ago.”

To fill the void left by Lloris, Tottenham brought in Guglielmo Vicario, who has made a significant impact since his arrival at the club.

Vicario, an Italian international, joined Spurs last summer from Serie A club Empoli on a five-year contract, with a transfer fee of €18.5 millio n.

Despite Vicario’s stellar performances, Lloris’ contributions to Tottenham over the years cannot be overlooked.

He has served the club for years and bailed them out on numerous occasions with his goalkeeping heroics.
