Wilfred Singo has admitted that AC Milan were among the teams who showed an interest in signing him from Torino, but then explained why going to Monaco was an easy choice for him.

Singo established himself as one of the most exciting right-backs in Serie A during his time with Torino and Milan were linked with a move for him at various different points throughout.

Back in early August, Gianluca Di Marzio reported that the Granata wanted to explore a deal involving Junior Messias going to Turin and Singo coming the other way.

However, on 17 August of last year, Singo officially joined Ligue 1 side Monaco for an undisclosed fee, signing a five-year contract with the Monégasque club and putting an end to the various rumours regarding the Rossoneri.

Now, Singo has given an interview to Marca in which he lifted the lid a bit on what happened during the summer, with his comments relayed by Calciomercato.com.

“It’s true, there were several clubs interested in signing me such as Milan, Atalanta and Inter, but after thinking about it I decided to go to Monaco,” he said.

“I talked about it with my manager agent, Maxime Nana, and also with Nicolás Nkoulou, who played for Monaco and is like a brother to me. He spoke very well about the club, explaining to me that it is a great place to continue to grow and improve.

“Now I am happy. The club gives confidence to young players, the infrastructure is of a high standard and you can grow here. This is why choosing Monaco was easy for me.”
