Sporting Kansas City striker Alan Pulido was named the 2023 MLS Comeback Player of the Year on Wednesday.

He leads SKC with 15 goals in all competitions after missing the 2022 campaign following knee surgery.

The 32-year-old Mexican national added three assists in 28 regular-season matches (26 starts).

In the MLS Cup Playoffs, Pulido delivered three assists in a first-round upset of No. 1 seed St. Louis City SC.

He received 34.1 percent of the aggregate votes from MLS players, technical staff and media members.

Atlanta United's Miles Robinson (25.5 percent) was second and the Seattle Sounders' Joao Paulo (9.1) placed third.

Pulido is the franchise's fifth player to win the award, joining Tony Meola (2000), Chris Klein (2002, 2005), Eddie Johnson (2007) and Tim Melia (2015).
