AC Milan starlet Francesco Camarda recently turned 16, making him eligible to sign his first professional contract. However, he has not done so yet, and today, a journalist has provided a worrying update.

Reports have suggested in recent months that the club have planned to delay his contract signing until after the end of the season to their own benefit. Doing so would allow them an extra year to renegotiate a deal instead of being forced to renew his contract when he turns 18 and running the risk of losing him then.

Additionally, reports have consistently said that the club remain confident about the chances of his signing, but until there is anything official, it is a nervy waiting game that Milan will want to end as soon as they can.

Peppe Di Stefano spoke to Sky Sport about the future of Camarda, and his words have been relayed by Pianeta Milan.

“He hasn’t signed his first contract yet and this is not good news for me. I don’t have positive feelings in relation to this. It’s a question of who the first team and Under-23 coaches will be, it’s a question of the signing… I think we need to reset because he’s too young. We will have to understand the intentions of both sides.

“At the moment the feelings are not positive, because if there had been an agreement the boy would obviously have already renewed. That would be a shame for everyone. We don’t know if he will become a player or not, but we are convinced that he will get a chance because he keeps scoring goals. We hope we don’t lose him for our football.”
