Saudi Pro League clubs are gearing up to shake up the transfer market this summer with ambitious plans to target Tottenham Hotspur captain Son Heung-min.

Despite having less than 18 months left on his contract with Spurs, which expires on June 30 of the following year, the South Korean has voiced his intention to remain in North London.

Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge has revealed that discussions are ongoing between Spurs and Son regarding a contract renewal.

However, there hasn’t been any positive update since the talks initiated a few weeks ago, which reported that the deal would be finalised in the summer.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Bridge provided an update regarding the contract saga concerning the South Korean.

He said:

“Yeah, still ongoing. This is a player who, let’s face it, is just brilliant on the field, but a brilliant ambassador and obviously globally, so key to the football club. He’s been a great club captain since taking over from Harry Kane.”

Heung-min Son has been an influential figure for Tottenham on and off the pitch

Son has been pivotal for Tottenham both on and off the pitch. And he has stepped up a notch since taking on the responsibility of the captain’s armband, acting as their primary goalscorer in the Premier League with 14 goals. He has also provided 8 assists in 25 appearances.

Spurs signed the star forward back in 2015 in a £22 million deal from German side Bayer Leverkusen.

The 31-year-old has amassed an impressive total of 398 appearances for the club, scoring 159 goals scored and providing 88 assists.
