Son Heung-min scored a brilliant goal as South Korea thrashed Singapore 5-0 in a World Cup qualifier on Thursday.

The Tottenham Hotspur forward netted the game's third goal in the 63rd minute when he whipped a fine left-footed shot into the top corner from 22 yards.

This was the 39th goal of Son's senior international career.

Cho Gue-Sung, Hwang Hee-Chan, Hwang Ui-Jo and Lee Kang-in got Thursday's other goals in Seoul.

Around 20 minutes after scoring, Son appeared to suffer an injury to his right leg.

This occurred when Singapore midfielder Shah Shahiran caught Son's knee with his right boot.

With no substitutions still available for manager Jurgen Klinsmann, Son stayed on the field for the remainder of the game.

He was then seen jogging after full-time during a lap of honor.

This was only the first game of South Korea's qualifying campaign for the 2026 World Cup.

South Korea have successfully qualified for each of the previous 10 World Cups.

Tottenham fans will be desperate to hear that Son is fit and well following Thursday's injury scare.

Spurs are already expected to be without star men James Maddison and Mickey van de Ven for the rest of 2023, while Richarlison, Manor Solomon, Ryan Sessegnon and Ivan Perisic are also currently injured.
