Southampton right-back Kyle Walker-Peters has kept in touch with successful loanee Nathan Tella this season.

The 23-year-old forward is enjoying a great season at Burnley under Vincent Kompany.

With the Clarets winning promotion to the Premier League, many Saints fans were surprised that the impressive Tella was not recalled in January by Southampton.

Walker-Peters told the Daily Echo: "Definitely, I've sent him a few messages because he came to me last year before he went out and he asked me for some advice.

I was in a similar position to him when I was back at Tottenham (Hotspur) so I gave him all the advice I could, and I am really happy it's gone well for him."

He added: I think they've got a few more games left of their season so I hope his form continues and then we will see what happens with him.

He's on fire, I'm really happy for him. He's a hard worker so he deserves everything he is getting."
