Tottenham Hotspur are intensifying their pursuit of potential targets across various positions as the summer transfer window approaches, with a long-pursued target, Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, back in the spotlight.

Having tracked Gallagher’s progress since last summer, Spurs could finally secure the English midfielder, despite facing competition from Newcastle United.

Transfer insider Dean Jones suggests that Gallagher’s preference to stay in London could give Tottenham an advantage over Newcastle in negotiations, despite previous hesitations over his price tag.

Gallagher’s reluctance to leave Chelsea stems from his deep ties to the club and family considerations, making a move to another London-based club more appealing if he departs Stamford Bridge.

Jones underscores Tottenham’s appeal to Gallagher, given his homegrown status and potential for playing time under Ange Postecoglou’s leadership.

He told GiveMeSport:

“New links have started between Conor Gallagher and Newcastle, and it does not surprise me they would have interest, but I am not sure how far I would expect that to go.”

“Obviously, Gallagher doesn’t want to leave Chelsea. He can’t even think about it at the moment, as far as I’ve heard, because he just doesn’t want it to happen.”

“But if he does leave Chelsea, I have heard that him moving that far away from his family would not be ideal.”

“I think another club in London could work better, and we know Spurs are kee and that his homegrown status would help them.”

” It really is still a case of wait and see because if Pochettino does end up staying beyond this season, he would be very angry to see Gallagher sold.”

With Gallagher’s contract set to expire in less than 15 months and no extension in sight, Tottenham could capitalize on the situation and secure the coveted midfielder.

As negotiations unfold, Tottenham remains a favorite destination for Gallagher due to its location and potential for career advancement.
