Wojciech Szczesny is one of the many Juventus players whose contracts will end shortly, in 2025. Despite the Bianconeri being occasionally linked to younger goalkeepers, the Pole is likely to keep manning their sticks, TuttoSport informs (via OneFootball).

The veteran appears willing to reduce his salary. He currently makes about €6.5M. However, he might not necessarily be the starter until he hangs his gloves. He’s open to doing the same thing Gianluigi Buffon did with him in the past and serving as the backup in his twilight years.

Sport’s journalist Aleksandr Bernard weighed in to Tuttomercatoweb.

“First of all, Euro 2024 will be his final international competition. It’s not official, but he’s been preparing the fans for this choice for many months. Because of that, Szczesny will focus on his club, and I think there is a 95 percent chance he will extend his Juventus contract until 2026 and accept a pay cut. I think he’ll conclude his career with them.”

The pundit discussed his potential heir.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if Gianluigi Donnarumma didn’t re-up with PSG and joined the Bianconeri on a free transfer in 2026.”

Our Take on Juventus and Szczesny

At some point, their management will have to finalize one of the many rumored renewals. Besides the rumors about Michele Di Gregorio, no replacement has gained real traction. The reservations about the Pole are merely economic and not technical. He has at least a couple more good years in him.
