Chelsea have confirmed the rumours of the last few days by announcing that David Datro Fofana has joined Burnley on loan.

The striker was recalled from Union Berlin, where he spent the first part of this season, freeing up an international loan slot which will allow Ian Maatsen to join Burnley.

Fofana was not having the best time at Union, and a fresh start for him makes sense too. Burnley are in desperate need of a good striker, so he will have a chance there. But equally the Clarets are battling desperately against relegation, so Fofana will have to hit the ground running and prove right away that he can bring them a goal threat.

After joining us a year ago, Fofana is already falling off the radar a little, and needs a good 6 months here to show everyone he’s got the talent we paid for not so long ago.
