Amad Diallo has told Sunderland fans that any other Championship club can forget about signing him this month.

Amad has had a frustrating season with a pre-season injury costing him a chance to force his way into the Manchester United side following a stunning loan spell at Sunderland last year.

It’s looking increasingly likely that he will be sent out on loan again, and the Red Devils are understandably inundated with interest from the Championship.

Southampton and Leicester have both been heavily linked, and on Tuesday it was reported by Alan Nixon that Middlesbrough were now leading the race to sign him.

However, Amad has poured scorn on those reports himself, contacting a Sunderland fan group to tell them the Middlesbrough links are ‘fake’ and that Sunderland are the only Championship side he would join.

“The rumour binding me on a loan to Boro are fake,” Amad said in a Twitter message to the popular fan group account.

“If I had to come back on loan to the Championship, it would be at Sunderland and not anywhere else.”

That wasn’t his only social media activity on the day either. He also posted a picture of him in a Sunderland shirt on Instagram with an accompanying heart emoji.

Whether Amad actually does return to Sunderland is in the hands of Manchester United. They could well opt to keep him and use him themselves, or they may want to see him play at a higher level than the Championship if he does leave on loan.

If a deal is there to be done, though, you’d imagine Sunderland would be more than happy to do it.
