Sunderland are in talks to sign PSG defender Colin Dagba, reports French outlet Foot Mercato.

Reports coming out of France say that Dagba, 24, is a target for Sunderland and that the Black Cats are in talks to sign the Frenchman.

A right-back, Dagba has been with the French giants since 2016 and he's so far racked up 55 league appearances for the club, spending last season on loan at Strasbourg in Ligue 1.

Foot Mercato say that talks are underway between Sunderland and PSG over a potential permanent sale of Dagba - the Black Cats did business with PSG last summer, signing Edouard Michut on loan for the 2022/23 season.

Dagba could become Sunderland's sixth signing of the summer after Bradley Dack and Eliezer Mayenda's recent arrivals.

Right-backs needed at Sunderland?

Sunderland have a couple of natural right-backs in their ranks in Niall Huggins and Trai Hume.

The latter though played and impressed in a centre-back role last season, with the likes of Luke O'Nien often slotting in at right-back.

So another natural right-back would be a bonus for Tony Mowbray and Dagba looks like a really exciting link.

He's got experience of playing at the highest level with PSG and at 24 years old, he's at a good age to join a new club and hit the ground running.

His current experience should bode well for him should he join Sunderland in the Championship and he'd provide some much-needed experience in a very youthful side.

It looks like a move could be quite far down the line and if Sunderland get this one over the line, it'd be a very impressive capture for the Black Cats.
