There is one less contract matter to worry about at Bramall Lane after Sheffield United recently confirmed talented youngster Andre Brooks had penned a contract extension. The academy graduate, a loyal member of the club since the age of eight, has committed his future by signing a new deal that ties him to the Blades until 2027.

Brooks marked his Premier League debut as a substitute on the opening day of the season against Crystal Palace and has seamlessly integrated into Chris Wilder’s starting lineup, featuring prominently in the last seven games across all competitions.

The midfielder stated in his interview upon the extension news:

“I am absolutely delighted, it’s great to get it over the line. The gaffer has come in and showed confidence in me straight away and that’s been a huge boost, it is up to me now to reward him for the faith he’s showed in me.

“I’ve been in the system now for 12 years, and this is another step to where I want to be. I know there’s still a long road ahead, so I’ll be working hard to stay in the team and to keep learning and improving.”

Even before getting his chance in the first team, Brooks had seemingly looked better and better in every development match. His versatility, burst of energy and technical skills made him a standout in the youth matches, and he has carried over these attributes to Premier League effortlessly.

Many people have jumped to the point that Vinicius Souza has greatly improved since Chris Wilder has retuned. Whilst that’s true, the inclusion of Brooks into the midfield has been parallel to Wilder’s homecoming – the 20-year-old has helped lift the big Brazilian’s performances giving the middle of the park something that was missing under Paul Heckingbottom: athleticism.
