AC Milan’s first signing of the January window is set to be a permanent deal for a player currently on loan, namely striker Pietro Pellegri, according to a report.

According to Calciomercato.com, Milan are accelerating to buy Pellegri outright and a conference call is scheduled between Paolo Maldini and Monaco this afternoon to try to close the deal. Milan are aiming to secure a discount on the option to buy of €6m plus €1m in bonuses agreed last summer.

Despite an unfortunate start to the season where injury problems have continued to plague him, Pellegri has convinced Milan and that is why they are stepping up attempts to secure him on a permanent deal.

There is a plan in mind too: the Rossoneri will buy him outright and then they will loan him to Torino where he will grow and develop further. The Granata overtook Genoa by reaching a total agreement yesterday with Milan over a six-month loan.

Further updates are expected in the evening regarding the operation, which is sure to divide opinion among the fan base.
