Fabrizio Romano has reported that West Ham United want to sign Emile Smith Rowe in this transfer window. The player is struggling for game time at the Emirates, and the Hammers are exploring the option of a loan deal.

Arsenal and West Ham are in Talks for Smith-Rowe Loan Move

Negotiations Proving Difficult for West Ham

According to Romano, the two clubs are discussing the structure of a potential loan move for the English talent. The Hammers are currently facing an injury crisis, with a number of starters sidelined. Lucas Paqueta, Jarrod Bowen, Pablo Fornals, Mohammed Kudus and Edson Alvarez are unavailable for the Premier League side. Smith Rowe provides a solid option for David Moyes as his versatility allows him to deputies in multiple positions.

According to the latest update from ExWHUemployee, the deal is proving to be difficult for the Irons, with another recent update also mentioning the player does not appear keen on the move to East London. Smith Rowe is said to be focused – on fighting for his place in the squad for the remainder of the season. Arsenal are reportedly reluctant to let the player leave in the January transfer window. The East London club will turn their attention to other options, including Manchester City outcast Kalvin Phillips according to the West Ham insider.

Smith-Rowe’s Situation at Arsenal

The 23-year-old has not enjoyed a productive time with the Gunners recently. After breaking out and making his name in the 2020-21 season, the “monster” talent – went on to put in numerous impressive performances. However, he only managed 15 appearances in all competitions in the 2022-23 season and has only featured on 12 occasions this season.

A temporary move away from his boyhood club could potentially help him bring his career back on track. However, reports suggest that the club and the player are against a loan move. When asked about West Ham’s approach, Arteta said: “I’m really happy with Emile, we are very happy. He’s in the right trajectory. He’s settled really well and training very well.”
