Inter officialized both the departure of Robin Gosens and the acquisition of Carlos Augusto Tuesday night. The German international joined Union Berlin on a permanent deal. Instead, the former Monza star transferred on loan with an obligation to buy.

Per Calcio Finanza, the ex-Atalanta star switched teams for a €15M fee. His cost on the balance sheets was €18.1M. They’ll save €10.6M on his wages and amortization. Therefore, they’ll register a €7.5M profit. They had spent €27.4M to purchase him from Atalanta.

Inter will use the sum earned by shipping Gosens to Union Berlin on Carlos Augusto for the upcoming season. The price of the initial loan is €4.5M, while he’ll make just €2.9M gross thanks to fiscal benefits. The tally is €7.4M.

The Nerazzurri will have to redeem the Brazilian for €13M in 2024. He logged 12 goals and 11 assists in 107 appearances with Monza. Instead, the veteran struggled to recapture his best form following a major thigh injury. He showed better in the second half of the past campaign, when they rotated a lot, but didn’t truly push Federico Dimarco for the starting job.

Our Take on Inter, Gosens, and Carlos Augusto

They stumbled into two great deals money-wise, and they’ll benefit technically. They were lucky to find decent enough suitors for the former, who ended up being a poor investment.
