We’re absolutely delighted at The Celtic Star that the Green Brigade yesterday confirmed that they will be bringing the Green Wall back to Celtic Park for the two upcoming SWPL1 fixtures against Hearts at Celtic Park on Sunday 21 April and then against Hibs, again at Paradise on the final day of the league campaign on Sunday 19 May. That could be the game where Celtic win the SWPL1 for the first time ever!

The Celtic Star has provided unrivalled coverage of the Celtic FC Women’s team for four seasons and we’ll be there as usual to see this season to hopefully a delightful double.

The Green Brigade’s message reads as follows:

“Last May, Paradise belonged to the Ghirls as record crowds got behind them for a dramatic season end.Once again, fans have the opportunity to join The Celtic End and create the same wall of noise and colour that inspired the Ghirls,”  North Curve Celtic

The Celtic End Green Wall was something else at the end of last season for the games against Glasgow City ad Hearts, both of which Celtic FC Women won comfortably. Both matches smashed the SWPL attendance records with the record still standing at 15,822.

For context the Sky Sports Cup Final – that the Women’s League Cup – took place at Tynecastle on Sunday with theRangers Women playing Partick Thistle in front of a crowd of 4000.

Anyone who attended those two Celtic FC Women matches last season won’t need telling how special they were and you’s think most will be back this time. It’s the supporters who perhaps watched on TV and wished they’d gone along that we hope make the effort this time around.

The team will be excellent and the Green Wall is something to behold. There are plenty of obstacles to it her happening on a match day for the men’s team – folk having their own seats and not wanting to move etc and those are all valid reasons but there can be no denying that that Green Wall is something very special indeed.

Recently The Celtic Star spoke to Elena Sadiku about her transfer plans for the summer and she said she has players in mind that she’d like to bring to Celtic. Showing these players images of Celtic Park in full flow with the team winning and an incredible support behind it, is surely going to be helpful in getting these deals over the line?
