Chelsea are getting themselves prepared for potentially even more transfer business ahead of the upcoming 2024 January transfer window, but they appear to have made a decision on the immediate future of winger Noni Madueke.

Chelsea Make Decision On Noni Madueke

Will Madueke Be Moved Away By Chelsea In January?

The Athletic’s David Ornstein claims that the Blues have no intention of allowing young winger Madueke to leave the club on loan in the upcoming winter transfer window. This comes after the 21-year-old started getting linked with a possible short-term move elsewhere after not getting regular game-time under Mauricio Pochettino.

The journalist reiterates that “there is no desire” for the London heavyweights to sanction moves for the English winger or any other established first-team member mid-way through the 2023/24 campaign. Ornstein adds that the club could only give such loan moves to emerging young talents desperately in need of experience at the senior level,  which they might not receive at Stamford Bridge.  Madueke has been impacted by the arrival of the influential Cole Palmer from Manchester City this season, with the Englishman making the right-wing role his own since arriving at the club.

What Is Going On With Madueke?

The 21-year-old winger arrived at Chelsea from PSV Eindhoven earlier this year, with a lot of anticipation around his quality after his impressive work in the Netherlands. However, he has since failed to properly establish himself as a regular figure in the Blues’ starting XI with injury issues preventing him from getting much of a run in the squad.

Chelsea recently confirmed that Madueke has recovered from a lingering injury and returned to their training session after the win over Sheffield United at the weekend. The young winger will, however, need to perform extremely well in training sessions to get more minutes under Pochettino and convince the manager to start him in important matches going into the second half of the 2023/24 season. The 21-year-old, who was hailed for his “fantastic” ability to go past defenders, has only scored two goals in 20 appearances for the Premier League side so far.
