Micky van de Ven has indeed been a standout performer for Tottenham Hotspur since his arrival from Wolfsburg last summer for a significant fee of €40 million.

Adapting to Ange Postecoglou’s high-pressing style of play in the Premier League is no small feat, but the Dutch centre-half has exceeded expectations with his performances.

Pundits, including former English footballer Darren Bent, have praised Van de Ven’s outstanding displays, likening them to those of a seasoned league veteran. However, concerns have arisen regarding his susceptibility to hamstring injuries, which have already sidelined him for 10 games this season.

Bent expressed his worry about Van de Ven potentially suffering another hamstring setback, emphasizing the importance of his pace and defensive abilities to the team.

Speaking to Premier League Productions (11/03/24 at 2:50 pm), Bent said (quotes via HITC):

“That pace he has got, we saw times when Aston Villa were getting in behind and he was clawing it back, and Ollie Watkins is quick.

“The fact that they have lost him now to another hamstring injury, you just hope it’s not bad because he has been absolutely outstanding since he went to Tottenham.”

With Van de Ven’s injury in the recent match against Aston Villa, Postecoglou and Spurs fans hope for a swift recovery and his return to action as soon as possible.
