AC Milan will be without Malick Thiaw for tomorrow’s game against Lecce at San Siro as he is battling a foot problem, it has been confirmed.

Thiaw was a strong candidate for a starting spot given that Simon Kjaer only rejoined group training on Thursday while Pierre Kalulu will be sidelined for a few more weeks, but he has been hit by another injury setback.

Pioli spoke at Milanello in his pre-match press conference on the eve of the game and he was asked about Thiaw’s condition given the reports had broken moments before about his foot issue.

“The fact that he won’t be available tomorrow also depends a lot on next Thursday’s match, he has this inflammation from plantar fasciitis which is causing him some problems,” he said.

“He wasn’t able to complete all the training sessions with us, so on a precautionary level he won’t be called up tomorrow but with the great hope that he will be available for Thursday given the absence of Kalulu and Tomori.”

In his place, one of Matteo Gabbia or Kjaer will start. Sky believe that it will be Gabbia who gets the nod alongside Fikayo Tomori, who in turn will be out for the game against Roma due to suspension.
