Thierry Henry has given his verdict on Lille defender Leny Yorro, who has been heavily linked with a summer transfer to Manchester United.

Manchester United’s pursuit of a new centre-half could go anyway as far as we’re concerned. The Reds have reportedly listed several targets and it looks like they want a young player with a high ceiling.

From Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite to Lille’s Yorro, the gossip columns have also linked United with Benfica centre-back Antonio Silva.

Yorro, 18, has earned praise from Arsenal legend Henry, who is now the coach of France’s U21 side.

Henry told Le Petit Lillois: “We often talk about Leny. He is having an exemplary start to his career. To establish himself in Lille as he is doing…

“He always has some young reactions, and that is completely normal. It comes slowly. You make mistakes and sometimes you get embarrassed.

“(But) he goes on to play one match after another, he starts quite often and quite often is good. It’s really good for him. He is professional. He’s a good guy, well educated.

“I like him. He performs well. Afterwards, there are always things to refine, but that’s completely normal. Frankly, it’s really a more than positive progression.”

Yorro may be young, but he quickly became a regular in the Lille side. His contract expires in 2025, so the Ligue 1 side may be under pressure to sell him this summer.

Only time will tell if United prioritise Yorro over other targets such as Branthwaite. I have a feeling the Everton defender will be near the top of our wishlist.
