Romelu Lukaku hasn’t exactly had the best starts to his Chelsea career the second time around.

Despite starting very well in the first handful of matches things soon went downhill and his form dipped.

Then he suffered with an injury and Covid-19 and that was just the start of the misery.

The untimely and silly interview with Sky Italy just made everything worse for him and the drama ensued.

But a lot of the talk has also been that Chelsea are not playing to Lukaku’s strengths and could be doing more to help him.

Thomas Tuchel has said that they have been watching old Inter Milan matches to try and get the best out of Lukaku, but he also says that all strikers go through these spells and he believes it is just one of those moments here now with Lukaku.

“I remember when there were a lot of critics for Harry Kane at the beginning of the season. But in the end, he is what he is. He’s a goalscorer.” Tuchel says on comparisons with Lukaku as reported by The Daily Mail.

“I think if you are a scorer at this level, you must have been scoring goals from six-years old.

“You just have it and he will never lose it and it’s the same for Romelu.

“These guys, at the end of the season, they will have a certain amount of goals. Why?

“Because they have proved this is what they do. It’s simply what they do.”

“Yes, we’ve talked about this,” Tuchel continued on watching old Inter Milan games and how they played with Lukaku.

“I watch football games and I can see where he plays, how he plays and the way Inter play.”
