According to The Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur ‘could turn to’ veteran goalkeeper Ben Foster as they look to bring in emergency cover for their captain Hugo Lloris.

The 36-year-old French goalkeeper suffered an injury in the recent 1-0 win over Manchester City, which is expected to keep him out of action for up to 8 weeks.

Lloris’ injury means that summer signing Fraser Forster is set to start in his absence, but Spurs are looking for additional back up in case of any further setbacks.

The former Watford keeper Ben Foster, who retired from football last June, is reportedly available for a short-term deal as a free agent.

This injury could not have come at a worse time for Tottenham, as they are set to play some crucial games in the league, as well as in the Champions League and the FA Cup.

With a good chance to end their trophy drought this season under manager Antonio Conte, the Spurs will not want the injury to derail their campaign.

Lloris has had an average season for Spurs so far with the Frenchman making a number of mistakes leading to goals most notably against Newcastle and Aston Villa as well as during the 4-2 defeat to Manchester City in January.

But despite Lloris’ error-prone season, the Spurs captain remains a valuable member of the team with his experience and status at the club.

His absence will be a huge miss for the team, and the Tottenham management is taking all necessary measures to ensure that they are well covered in his absence.
