Tottenham’s attempt to secure Wolves’ Adama Traore on loan a couple of years ago turned into an amusing episode, with the Premier League club reportedly laughing off Spurs’ bid.

The Lilywhites were keen on adding Traore to their squad during Antonio Conte’s tenure, believing the dynamic right-winger could thrive in the Italian manager’s counter-attacking system.

However, their efforts to secure the player’s services hit a snag when Wolves rejected their loan bid.

Journalist Tim Spiers, writing for The Athletic, revealed the behind-the-scenes details of Tottenham’s bid.

According to Spiers, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy made a £5 million bid to bring Traore to North London on loan.

However, Wolves found the offer amusingly low and promptly rejected it.

Traore had been a standout performer in the Premier League, dazzling fans with his ability to take on defenders with his powerful physique and speed.

Despite his undeniable talent, Traore has faced challenges since departing Wolves for Fulham on a free transfer last summer.

A lengthy hamstring injury has limited his playing time, allowing him just 79 minutes on the pitch in the Premier League.

Nonetheless, he has made an impact with a goal and an assist during his brief appearances.

He scored 14 and assisted 20 for Wolves during his time at the club.

While Spurs’ pursuit of the winger may have been unsuccessful, the episode adds an amusing anecdote to the club’s transfer history.
