Since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou at the club, Spurs have already signed three centre-backs and they are looking to bring in Riccardo Calafiori at the end of the season.

According to a report by TuttoJuve, they are ‘favourites’ to sign the Bologna defender despite having Italian giants Juventus in the transfer race as well.

Calafiori came up the ranks at AS Roma before joining club FC Basel in the summer of 2022. He had an exceptional season with the Swiss club. The 21-year-old featured in 38 matches and made quite a name for himself. Following his impressive performances, Bologna acquired his services last summer and he has been a revelation under Thiago Motta.

His impressive performances haven’t gone unnoticed and Tottenham are one of the clubs keen on his signatures. Postecoglou is keen on adding another centre-back to his ranks as he wants to ensure they have enough depth in the heart of the defence.

Tottenham need another central defender

They have signed Ashley Phillips, Radu Drăgușin and Micky van de Ven under the Australian boss. The duo have proven to be great additions. They have supported Cristian Romero to a great extent.

However, the North London club still lacks depth at the back. Signing the 21-year-old will not only give them more options but it will also help them in the long run.

Calafiori will only get better with time and he could prove to be a future investment.

But, Spurs are not the only club interested in the former Roma star. Juventus are keen on his signature as they look to bolster their defence. The positive for Spurs is that they have a much better financial situation and are leading the race for his signature at this stage.
