After the summer signings of Brennan Johnson, Alejo Veliz, Micky van de Ven, and Ashley Phillips, it’s apparent that Ange Postecoglou is attempting to bring in younger players to fill out his squad for the present and future. According to Alasdair Gold, this philosophy could be carried into January, with Tottenham Hotspur rumoured to be targeting Samuel Iling-Junior and “special” Wilfried Gnonto and players of that class.

Tottenham Hotspur Linked with Iling-Junior and Wilfried Gnonto

Which of Them Has the Most Realistic Chance of Moving to Tottenham?

For Iling-Junior, the Englishman has only appeared four times in 13 matches that Juventus have played in the Serie A this season, all coming off the bench.

While the 20-year-old has impressed during his time on the pitch, his limited playing time could very well be the reason he leaves Turin. However, with club legend Alessandro Del Piero praising the young attacker – Allegri could be swayed not to sell him.

Gnonto has previous experience in the Premier League. This is important because the Italian will already have familiarity with top-flight opponents and will likely need less time to adjust to life in North London.

However, the winger recently attempted to force a move away from the Championship club, creating a damaged relationship between him and Daniel Farke. If the Australian manager decides he is good enough to take a chance on him in January, there is a chance his misbehaviour could pop up again.

Injury Concerns

With Manor Solomon, Ivan Perisic, and Richarlison injured, bringing in another attacker is vital if the Lilywhites are to recover form and rival the other clubs at the top of the table. Although the Brazilian will recover before the January window arrives – having a strong squad is a must.

With either Iling-Junior or Gnonto as an option, not only does it provide more solidity off the bench if a starter goes down injured, but it could also provide Postecoglou with a glimpse into the future if he can help them reach their potential.
