Tottenham Hotspur reportedly finalizing long-term deal with Djed Spence

The long-anticipated signing of right back Djed Spence is finally set to come to fruition for Tottenham Hotspur, according to a report from Fabrizio Romano.

Spence, 21, previously played for Middlesbrough before spending the majority of the 2021-22 season on loan with Nottingham Forest. Middlesbrough will reportedly receive close to £20 million (about $23.7 million) in the transfer.

While he primarily starred in a defensive role, Spence scored two goals with Nottingham, including a long-distance strike against Queens Park Rangers that earned him EFL Championship Goal of the Month honors.

Spence was named to the EFL Championship Team of the Season and helped Nottingham earn promotion to the Premier League.

Rumors tying Spence to Tottenham swirled for more than a month before the Friday report that the transfer is being finalized. Tottenham finished fourth in the Premier League last season, earning a spot in the 2022-23 UEFA Champions League.
