Tottenham Hotspur are looking to sign Alessandro Buongiorno from Torino this summer.

The 24-year-old central defender is thought to be on the radar of several clubs but Tottenham are ‘in the front row’ to secure his signature and they have been laying down the groundwork under the radar for months now, as per reports via Tutto Juve.

Spurs have done well to improve their defensive unit this season and signing another quality central defender could sort out their back line for the foreseeable future.

Tottenham have an exciting project and a quality manager at the helm. The opportunity to join them can be quite attractive for most players and Buongiorno will certainly be attracted to the idea of competing in the Premier League.

Tottenham are pushing for Champions League qualification and they will be an attractive destination for players next season if they manage to finish in the top four.

The Italian defender is reportedly valued at €35 million and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham are ready to pay up. They have the financial muscle to get the deal done and the club must look to act quickly now.

Tottenham need more quality and depth in the side if they want to compete for major trophies. Qualifying for the Champions League next season would mean increased number of fixtures and therefore Tottenham will need more options at their disposal so that the manager can rotate the squad adequately and keep the players fresh throughout the season.

The 24-year-old Italian defender certainly has the quality to thrive in English football and he will look to establish himself as a key player for Tottenham in the coming seasons.
