Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite at the end of the season.

A report from Give Me Sport claims that Tottenham are ‘in the hunt’ for the 21-year-old central defender and they will face competition from Real Madrid and Manchester United.

The £35,000 a week defender has three years left on his current contract with Everton and he is reportedly valued at £80 million. It will be interesting to see if his suitors are willing to pay that kind of money for the player in the summer.

Tottenham need another central defender in their ranks and Branthwaite is certainly one of the finest defensive prospects in the country right now. However, the reported asking price could ward off the London club. They have other priorities in the market and they are unlikely to be able to afford that kind of money for the Everton defender.

Tottenham have signed Micky van de Ven and Radu Dragusin this season for reasonable prices and they will be hoping to sign another defender for a reasonable price as well.

Brathwaite is highly rated at Everton and the Toffees are unlikely to let him leave for a knockdown price. They will want a premium for their prized prospect and it remains to be seen how the situation develops.

The North London outfit are currently pushing for Champions League qualification and they could be an attractive destination for the 21-year-old. He has all the tools to develop into a top class defender in the coming seasons. Whoever ends up signing him will have a tremendous future prospect on their hands.
