Tottenham Hotspur are interested in a number of players to bolster Antonio Conte’s center-back options ahead of the January transfer window.

One such option linked with Spurs is Benfica defender Antonio Silva, according to to Give Me Sport. After an impressive debut season in Portugal, the 19-year-old has reportedly been recommended to Spurs.

He will be certainly a signing for the future but the way he is playing at the moment, it will not be surprising if he breaks into the first team too.

According to the report, ‘he is being scouted regularly by other top clubs across Europe’. Cristiano Ronaldo has also vouched for the youngster, reportedly telling Manchester United to snap up the upcoming star which itself says a lot about the talent.

His performances have seen him being called up by Portugal manager Fernando Santos for the World Cup. Silva is yet to make a senior cap for his National team but could get a chance in the upcoming World Cup.

Silva is a talented ball-playing central defender who enjoys a good tackle. He’s not the best air defender, but he reads the game exceptionally well for someone his age. The 19-year-old is used to playing in a back four and may need to adjust to Conte’s three-man defense.

Pau Torres is another name to keep an eye on, and his situation at Villarreal is intriguing now that Unai Emery has left the club. Spurs opted for Clement Lenglet on loan instead of pursuing Torres last summer, but the Spaniard has a £55 million release clause in his contract, so the situation could be revisited.
