Tottenham is closing in on an agreement to sell Dennis Cirkin to Sunderland this summer.

The highly-rated 19-year-old is one of the youngsters that Jose Mourinho tipped for greatness when he was at the club.

Spurs have some of the finest youngsters in England at the moment and they sent the likes of Troy Parrott and Oliver Skipp out on loan to gain first-team experience last season.

They could have done the same with Cirkin in this transfer window, but Football Insider reports that they are in talks to sell him permanently to League One side, Sunderland.

The report says the talks are making good progress and all parties expect an agreement to be reached soon enough.

Sunderland is bidding to return to the Championship next season and they see Cirkin as one player that will strengthen their squad.

The youngster knows that the path to first-team football at Spurs is difficult and this is the perfect time for him to leave the club so he can start getting regular first-team chances.

The report didn’t disclose the exact fee that the Black Cats would pay to sign him but says it is in six figures.
