Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing the Lecce defender Patrick Dorgu.

The defender is reportedly valued at £17 million and Tottenham are one of the clubs keen on signing him. They will face competition from Italian giants Juventus.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham submit an offer for the player in the coming weeks. They have the finances to get the deal done and the reported asking price could prove to be a bargain for the talented young fullback.

Dorgu has previously admitted that he is a boyhood Chelsea fan, and it will be interesting to see how his previous comments regarding the Blues go down with the Tottenham fans if he joins the north London club.

According to reports via SportWitness, Spurs have now initiated contact regarding a summer move, and it remains to be seen whether they follow it up with an official proposal at the end of the season.

The opportunity to join a big club in the Premier League can be quite tempting and it is unlikely that Dorgu will turn down a move to because of his admiration towards Chelsea.

A move to Tottenham and will be an exciting step in his career and he would get to test himself against top class players in the Premier League. Regular football in England could accelerate his development and help him fulfil his tremendous potential.

If he manages to hit the ground running in England, the £17 million asking price could look like a bargain. Tottenham need more depth in the side if they want to compete on multiple fronts next season and players like Dorgu could prove to be very useful.

The 19-year-old defender can operate as a left back as well as a left winger. He will help out defensively and contribute to the offensive phase of the game as well.
