Tottenham Hotspur will not meet the asking price for 24-year-old Chelsea mainstay Conor Gallagher.

The North London club have been linked with the Chelsea midfielder for a while now. They are looking to reinforce their midfield in the summer and the 24-year-old is quite high on their wishlist.

While they remain keen on having him in their squad, Tottenham have no intentions of paying the asking price as per Dean Jones on Sportscasting.

Gallagher’s future at Chelsea was uncertain last summer as well. There was interest from numerous clubs but he ended up staying at the London club. The 24-year-old worked his way into Mauricio Pochettino’s plans. He became a mainstay in the team and has been a constant feature under the Argentine manager.

Despite his importance to their team, his future at the club is still uncertain. The report suggests if Pochettino is shown the exit door, the chances of Gallagher leaving will also increase. His contract with the Blues runs out in just over a year and the people at the club see him as a sellable asset who could help them balance their books.

He is a homegrown player who will be listed as pure profit and they are looking to bring in close to £50 million from his sale. While Tottenham are keen on his signature, they are not going to meet Chelsea’s demands.

Spurs need a new midfielder who can help them control the tempo of the game and add drive to the midfield. The North London club will most likely part ways with Pierre-Emile Højbjerg in the summer and the 24-year-old could come in as an ideal replacement.

It will be interesting to see if Chelsea are willing to lower their demands and sell the player for a more reasonable price.
