Tottenham are being linked with a move to re-sign a player they sold four-years ago.

Spurs’ proactive approach in the transfer market continues even after the recent closure of the winter transfer window, with the club already identifying targets for the upcoming window.

Among the players linked with a return to Spurs is their former defender Kyle Walker-Peters.

Reports from The Athletic suggests that Tottenham are exploring the possibility of re-signing the English right-back from Southampton, leveraging a buyback clause included in Walker-Peters’ contract.

The clause, reportedly set at £30 million, provides Spurs with an opportunity to bring back the versatile defender to North London.

However, Spurs are not the only Premier League club interested in Walker-Peters, as both Arsenal and Manchester United have also made enquiries about the defender’s availability.

Walker-Peters, who joined Southampton on a permanent basis in 2020 after a successful loan spell, has been a consistent performer for the Saints.

The report states that even though he is contracted with the club till 2025, there have been no progress in terms of fresh contract talks, sparking speculations regarding a potential move away.

Walker-Peters has been a regular feature at St Mary’s Stadium, starting in all 33 games in the Championship this campaign and contributing with two goals and two assists.

The 26-year-old has showcased his versatility by featuring predominantly as a right-back but also demonstrating his ability to play on the left flank, as well as in more advanced positions such as right-wing and attacking midfield.

With his contract set to expire in less than 18 months, Tottenham could see Walker-Peters as a valuable addition to their squad as a backup to Pedro Porro, especially considering his adaptability and familiarity with the club.
