Brentford’s Sergio Reguilon did his parent club Tottenham a huge favour with his performance against Aston Villa earlier today.

The 27-year-old put on an impressive display in the Bees’ recent 3-3 draw against Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Reguilon, playing as the left wing-back in Thomas Frank’s 3-5-2 formation, delivered two crucial assists during his 76-minute appearance at Villa Park.

In the 61st minute, Reguilon delivered a cross from the left-hand side, allowing Bryan Mbeumo to score with a fine volley finish.

Seven minutes later, Reguilon surged down the left flank with his pace and acceleration, delivering another well-placed cross for Yoane Wissa to score, giving the visitors the lead.

Reguilon’s performance earned him a rating of 8.4, the second-highest on the pitch. (FotMob)

Reguilon does his parent club a huge favour

He ended up helping Tottenham with his performance in the race to a top 4 finish.

Spurs were only 2 points behind Villa with a game in hand. The draw against Brentford means, another two points dropped for them, giving Spurs a chance to go 3 points clear of them if they win their next game and their game in hand.

Their next game is against Nottingham Forest, who are managed by the former Spurs manager Nuno Espírito Santo. He will be coming with a point, having been sacked by the club in just a few months before the club appointed Antonio Conte.

Reguilon may not play for Tottenham again

Sergio Reguilon was loaned to Brentford in January until the end of the season.

This is the left-back’s third consecutive loan spell. Before joining Brentford, he spent a season on loan at Atletico Madrid starting in the summer of 2022, followed by a six-month loan at Manchester United last September.

Reguilon has made 10 appearances for Brentford in the Premier League so far. During his time on the pitch, he has contributed three assists in a total of 613 minutes played.
