Tottenham are keeping a close eye on Brazilian defensive sensation JP Chermont.

The North London club are expected to undergo a major overhaul in the summer. Their manager Ange Postecoglou has publicly insisted that there will be significant changes and they have been linked with quite a few players from across Europe.

Santos full-back JP Chermont is one of the players linked with Tottenham and according to Rogério Siqueira, they have been monitoring him ahead of a potential transfer.

The Brazilian full-back has come up the ranks at Santos. While he started the year with their academy team, he managed to break into their first team and was promoted in March on the back of his impressive performances. The right-back already has eight first-team appearances and he also has a goal to his name.

The teenage full-back’s rise hasn’t gone unnoticed and Tottenham are one of the clubs that have been linked with him. The report suggests that they have been constantly monitoring him. While no details have been revealed, they could end up making a move for his services in the near future.

With Emerson Royal’s future at the North London club uncertain, the 18-year-old could come in as a replacement. He could provide cover for Pedro Porro and be their preferred full-back in the long run.

Meanwhile, Chermont’s contract with the Brazilian second-division outfit runs until the summer of 2025. While negotiations are underway regarding a new deal with a new release clause, Spurs’ presence could make things difficult for Santos.

The youngster has shown some great promise but with him playing in the second division of Brazil, it will be interesting to see if Tottenham do end up making a move for him.
