Tottenham Hotspur are keen on the Atalanta midfielder Ederson Dos Santos and they will face competition from Premier League rivals Newcastle United.

A report from Tutto Atalanta claims that the two English clubs are ‘ready to offer’ a substantial amount of money for the Brazilian midfielder and the player is valued in excess of €40 million. It will be interesting to see if they can secure an agreement with Atalanta in the coming weeks.

Spurs need midfield reinforcements and the Brazilian should prove to be a quality acquisition. He has proven himself in the Italian league and the opportunity to showcase his quality in England will be an attractive option for him.

Meanwhile, Newcastle need to bring in a quality partner for Sandro Tonali, especially if Bruno Guimaraes leaves the club in the summer. He has been linked with an exit from Newcastle and the Magpies will have to replace him adequately.

Ederson would improve Tottenham

Ederson will add creativity, control and defensive cover in the middle of the park. He is certainly good enough for the Premier League and he could be a key player for Tottenham or Newcastle. It remains to be seen whether they are prepared to pay the asking price for him.

The 24-year-old is still relatively young with room for development. He could improve further and establish himself as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.

Tottenham are currently pushing for Champions League qualification and they will be an attractive destination for players if they manage to secure a top four finish. Ederson could be an alternative alternative to Conor Gallagher for them. Spurs have been linked with the Chelsea midfielder, but he is likely to cost a premium in the summer. Tottenham have other priorities as well and they cannot afford to pay over the odds for the English midfielder.
