Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Barcelona midfielder Franck Kessie.

The 25-year-old has not been able to hold down a regular starting berth at the Spanish club since joining them on a free transfer at the start of the season.

The former AC Milan midfielder has been linked with an exit from La Liga and the likes of Inter Milan are reportedly keen on securing his services. However, a report from Diario AS (h/t TeamTalk) claims that Tottenham are currently best positioned to sign the player.

The Londoners could certainly use more depth and quality in the middle of the park and the Ivorian could prove to be a useful addition.

The player has a contract with Barcelona until the summer of 2026, but the Spanish giants could let him leave for a reasonable fee because of his standing in the squad. He is clearly not a key part of Xavi Hernandez, and it will be interesting to see whether the likes of Tottenham are prepared to make a move for him in January.

Even if Barcelona are not willing to weaken their squad midway through the season, a summer transfer is very much on the cards and Tottenham must do everything in their power to sign the 25-year-old at the end of the season.

His arrival will add power, presence and defensive steel to Tottenham’s midfield. Furthermore, his arrival will also allow Conte to rotate his midfield better and keep his squad fresh.
