Tottenham Hotspur are looking to improve their defensive options in the summer and they have identified Riccardo Calafiori as a potential target.

A report from Gazzetta Dello Sport via SportWitness claims that Tottenham are keen on the player and they will face competition from Juventus and Napoli.

The defender is valued at €25 million and it will be interesting to see if Tottenham are prepared to pay the asking price for him. The 21-year-old is highly rated around Italy and he has a big future ahead of him. He could develop into a key player for the North London club with experience and guidance.

Bologna paid €4 million to sign the player and they are looking to make a substantial profit on him. Regardless, €25 million could prove to be a reasonable investment for a player of his potential. Tottenham certainly have the means to afford him, and it will be interesting to see if they can beat the likes of Juventus and Napoli to his signature.

Tottenham would do well to sign Riccardo Calafiori

The 21-year-old is likely to be attracted to the idea of playing in the Premier League, and Tottenham will be an attractive destination for him. The North London outfit are currently pushing for Champions League qualification, and they could provide Calafiori with the platform to showcase his abilities at a high level next season.

Spurs have invested in Micky van de Ven and Radu Dragusin this season. However, they could still use another quality central defender and Calafiori would be a long-term investment. The young defender could easily justify the investment in the coming seasons and the transfer could look like a bargain if he manages to fulfil his potential.
