Roma have been trying to modify the contract of Paulo Dybala shortly after they convinced him to join, but they haven’t succeeded yet. A new round of talks is expected to take place soon since it expires in 2025. His €12M release clause for foreign teams will come into effect again in early July, Calciomercato informs.
Francesco Totti has changed his tune about La Joya after embracing him fully in previous years in an interview with Corriere dello Sport.
“He’s a top player, but it depends on what the team wants to do and its objectives. If somebody features in just 15 matches per season, I’d think about it as an exec. If I aim at important goals and one of my most important players only stars in a third of the games, I have to ponder it. Instead, I’d buy out Romelu Lukaku.”
In reality, despite some recurring injuries, Dybala has missed just 6 tilts this campaign, playing in 69 percent of the fixtures, scoring 14 goals and providing 8 assists. Instead, he logged 38 appearances across all competitions last year.

If he were more durable, he would be in bigger clubs or perhaps still at Juventus. His fitness was an issue more last season than in this one. Despite the short-term expiration date, it’s totally possible his contract will stay as is.
