Ivan Toney, the Brentford striker, has attracted attention from several English clubs, including Tottenham, following his expressed desire for a significant move to a top club.

While Spurs are not the sole interested party, Chelsea and Arsenal have also been linked with the forward.

A January move seems unlikely due to the nearing deadline, but a summer transfer is reportedly on the cards for the centre-forward.

And transfer insider Dean Jones has claimed that he believes Toney might end up going to Tottenham.

Speaking on the Ranks FC Ultras Podcast, Dean Jones expressed his doubts about Toney’s potential move to Arsenal or Chelsea, suggesting that if those clubs look elsewhere or sign other players, it could open the door for a move to Tottenham.

He said:

“I personally have doubts about Toney going to either Arsenal or Chelsea, which sounds strange because the narrative is he’s going to one of those clubs, but I think Toney might end up going to a Tottenham.

“If Arsenal look elsewhere and Chelsea sign Osimhen, that might open the door for something like that to happen.”

Ivan Toney has less than eighteen months remaining on his contract with Brentford, which is set to expire next summer.

Since joining from Peterborough in 2020, he has made 123 appearances for Brentford, scoring 69 goals and providing 21 assists across all competitions.

Last season, despite receiving an eight-month ban from football due to breaches of player betting rules, Toney scored 20 goals in 33 league appearances.

TBH says:

With Tottenham still searching for a viable replacement for Harry Kane, targeting a striker of Toney’s goal-scoring caliber could prove to be a suitable option for the club.

While other strikers like Jonathan David and Santiago Gimenez are also linked, Toney’s consistent performances in the top tier of English football could give him the edge over others.
