There is a lot of smoke emerging from South America at the minute in regards to a Celtic move for Gremio’s young midfielder, Fernando Henrique. With a report from Globo just earlier this week also connecting Celtic with a move for the Brazilian U-21 international.

Henrique, 20, is said to be surplus to requirements at Gremio on the say so of their manager, Vagnar Mancini. Mancini is looking to move the player on as he cannot guarantee him playing time for the club currently sitting in the relegation zone in Brazil’s Serie A. Globo went as far as saying the player will be on his way to Glasgow come January, with a fee and contract being agreed upon.

However, Celtic cyberspace has been very sceptical of these reports, as Celtic are bandied about in foreign reports all the time. Generally speaking this happens in order for agents to drum up interest in their clients around the marketplace. It’s odd that there seems to be several different reports on this link between Henrique and Celtic.

The latest instalment of this newly fashioned saga has Henrique being sounded out by Celtic but nothing concrete as of yet. According to Portal Do Gremista, Celtic are looking at the young player with a view to making a move when the window opens. The information comes from journalist, Matheus D’Avila, who claims that there is speculation around the deal being closed but there is no offer as of yet.

Henrique is a player in a position that Celtic are actively looking at ahead of the window opening up. Whether or not this is an accurate report or merely conjecture and agent talk time will tell. There is a lot of smoke, but could there be some fire?
