Ismaila Soro has rejected the opportunity to join Greek side Panithanaikos, according to reports. The forgotten Celtic midfielder has been away from the club since last summer, when old boss Ange Postecoglou shipped him out of the club and onto the loan market, following a string of erratic performances from him under his early days as manager.

Signed from Bnei Yehuda under former boss Neil Lennon, the Ivory Coast man’s early contribution was promising but he ultimately failed to live up to those expectations. Undoubtedly blessed with a wonderful engine, the African has could run all day, but it became more and more apparent he could not put the brakes on when going into challenges, resulting in constant, and sometimes unnecessary bookings.

Heading to Arouca in Portugal last season for a year-long loan, they did not have the required funds to purchase the lively midfielder outright and he subsequently returned to the club. However, it had been thought that he would be on the move to Greece this morning but it looks like that move has now broken down and his agent will have to look for other opportunities.

As per Daily Record, a report in Portugal from publication, Record, the 25-year-old and his representatives have apparently rejected the offer as it was getting to the final stages and it’s expected he will arrive back in Glasgow when pre-season starts on Monday, although he will actively be looking for a move to somewhere else in the meantime.
