Despite an impressive 6-0 win over relegation threatened Everton, Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino was far from pleased at the end of the match. Four goals from Cole Palmer and two more from his teammates set Stamford Bridge on fire as Chelsea climbed to ninth spot in the Premier League.

However, a regrettable incident towards the end of the game meant that Pochettino had things to explain after the full-time whistle.

The players, staff and club know that the penalty taker is Cole Palmer. All that happened after is a shame. I am so, so upset about the situation and this type of behavior. I promise this is not going to happen again. Mauricio Pochettino said in a post-match press conference

Many fans had a go at Pochettino for apparently not having control over the dressing room. Cole Palmer has one of the best penalty conversion rates in the history of the Premier League, having scored all of his nine attempted penalties in the competition.

He is now tied on goals with last season’s golden boot winner Erling Haaland and sits above him in the ranking thanks to his 9 assists. Chelsea face Arsenal, Tottenham and West Ham United in their upcoming games.

Critics slam Chelsea players as Noni Madueke responds to savage criticism

Following the penalty ‘incident’ and subsequent backlash, Chelsea star Noni Madueke found himself in an uncomfortable position. The 22-year-old appeared to snatch the ball from Nicolas Jackson who had picked up the ball to take the penalty. Former Liverpool man and football pundit Jamie Carragher did not mince his words when reacting to the same.

It's daft. Come on lads. Pochettino is going to get asked about this after the game even though it's the best result of the season. It's a great night for everyone and now Cole Palmer gets up off the floor. Jamie Carragher said on a podcast

Monday Night football guest Dele Alli added that the Chelsea players were simply showing their age.

As criticism against Jackson and Madueke poured in, the latter responded with an Instagram post. The youngster posted a picture of Chelsea players huddled prior to the game, captioned with a blue heart. His post supposedly makes an attempt to reiterate the team’s unity despite the penalty ‘incident’ clouding the judgement of many!
