USMNT goalkeeper Matt Turner signs long-term deal with Arsenal
USMNT goalkeeper Matt Turner officially signed a long-term deal with Arsenal of the Premier League, the team announced on Monday.
Turner, 28, actually joined the Premier League from the New England Revolution back in February but remained with the U.S. team for the 2022 season, according to ESPN.
"Watching Arsenal as a kid, I fell in love with the way the team plays and the values of this club," Turner said on the team's Twitter page. "It felt like a long shot, but why not dream of putting my team's shirt on one day. So I dedicated my life to working at my game and being the best player and person that I could be."
Turner was named MLS Goalkeeper of the Year in 2021 as well as MVP for the MLS All-Star Game. He was in net for the United States when the Americans won the CONCACAF Gold Cup that year as well.
The New Jersey native is set to join Arsenal for preseason camp next month and compete with fellow goalkeepers Aaron Ramsdale and Bernd Leno for the starting spot.
Exact details of the contract have not been made public yet.
