United States stars Malik Tillman, Sergino Dest and Ricardo Pepi helped PSV Eindhoven draw 1-1 with Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 contest on Tuesday.

This was the first time in UCL history that three players from the USMNT had played together in a game during the knockout rounds.

Tillman and Dest started the game in Rotterdam before Pepi entered the action as a substitute in the 75th minute.

Donyell Malen put Dortmund in front midway through the first half but Luuk de Jong equalized from a 56th-minute penalty kick.

That penalty was awarded after Tillman had been fouled by Mats Hummels.

Dortmund will host PSV in the second leg on March 13.

Tuesday's other Champions League game saw Inter Milan beat Atletico Madrid 1-0 in Italy thanks to a goal from Marko Arnautovic.

Tillman, Dest and Pepi have now each made seven appearances in this season's Champions League.

Pepi scored in a 3-2 win over Sevilla during PSV's Group B campaign before assisting a goal in a 1-1 draw with Arsenal.

Tillman and Dest also provided one assist each during the group phase.
