USWNT star Alex Morgan returns to field after pregnancy, makes Tottenham debut

United States Women's National Team star Alex Morgan returned to the field on Saturday, making her debut for Tottenham Hotspur

Morgan entered the match in the 69th minute of the Spurs' 1-1 Women's Super League draw with Reading. She signed with Tottenham in September, on loan from the NWSL's Orlando Pride.

Morgan was active for just over 20 minutes, but she couldn't help Tottenham find the game-winning goal. Still, the team snapped a three-game losing streak on Saturday and now sit ninth in the 12-team standings.

The 31-year-old gave birth to her daughter, Charlie, in May and was supposed to debut last month, but a small setback delayed her recovery.

Morgan is the highest-profile American to leave the NWSL for England's top flight. However, she's not the only one. USWNT teammates Tobin Heath, Rose Lavelle, Sam Mewis and Christen Press all signed with English clubs, too. Lavelle and Mewis play for Manchester City while Heath and Press joined Manchester United.
