Denis Vavro has apologised after suggesting that he ‘hates’ Lazio during a livestream on Twitch.tv.

The 26-year-old Slovakian centre back, who spent the last six months on loan with FC Copenhagen, was live-streaming and decided to respond to a fan in his chat, who asked if he hates Lazio. He quickly responded: “Yes, of course!”

Predictably, Vavro’s response exploded on social media, infuriating the Lazio fans, who felt that he failed to live up to his €10.5 million price tag. He is currently on the verge of returning to FC Copenhagen on a permanent basis.

A few hours later, Vavro apologised to the Lazio fans on social media (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), trying to calm the situation.

I made a mistake, I said things I should never have taken in to my mouth. I’m sorry. Lazio is a big and historical club, too big for a player like me.

Vavro made 21 appearances for Lazio since joining the club in July 2019, failing to convince either Simone Inzaghi or Maurizio Sarri in Rome. He was sidelined under both coaches and spent time on loan with Spanish side SD Huesca last season and FC Copenhagen in the second half of this campaign.
